ASOPE® offers an opportunity to obtain a Power Plant Operating Engineer – Third Class license. A list of qualifications that are required to receive your Power Plant Operating Engineer - Third Class license are outlined below. Requirements include being the minimum age of 19 years old, a high school diploma/GED or equivalent, and two years or one year time in grade as a Facility Operating Engineer – Second Class may be used for the 2 years’experience for Power Plant Operating Engineer Third Class.
If all qualifications are met, you will be required to schedule an exam. The exam consists of a wide range of curriculum including, but not limited to, power plant basic instrumentation, power plant basic combustion and combustion equipment, and power plant basic steam generator fittings and accessories and equipment. Upon completion of the Facility Operating Engineer - Third Class license exam, an ASOPE® representative will notify of a "pass" or "fail" status.
